Luca Visual FX Competition

After 7 week of public voting via Facebook 'Likes', we found our 16 Finalists. 5 winners were choosen by 3 judges who are all featured below.

		The Joby Prize Winner Jansen Souza Harbor Chronicles 2.8 Jansen Souza is an independent filmmaker from the island of Maui, HI. He specailizes in lifestyle film making in Hawaii and in the States, documenting Music, Culture and Life. He has been doing this for 8 years now and doesn't plan on stopping anytime soon. www.klotwarmedia.com
		The LaCie Prize Winner Simon Tegala Cinemoi - Cannes Film Festival Simon Tegala is an artist and film maker based in London. He is director of production company Johnny Genius. Johnny Genius specialises in arts based documentary work. The website is currently down for a revamp but he collaborates with on a regular basis Minky Productions for which this film was edited for.
		The Luca Visual FX Prize Winner Andrew Chastney Jaguar Ambush Taster Andrew Chastney is a documentary film editor. He has been enjoying cutting stories for the last 20 odd years now and he was lucky enough to be part of the BAFTA winning Editing team on Frozen Planet. He loves the craft of editing and that one can completely alter a viewers perception of a scene through simple editing. He does love using effects to enhance a story's nuances too! 		The Noise Industries Prize Winner Neil Fernandez Matias - Electro Hot Shot Neil Fernandez, born in Joliet and raised in Downers Grove, now lives in LA, CA. Originally tried to go to college for business failed and dropped out but his mentor told him that he could make his hobby into a profession. Flash forward 7 years he is now professionally editing and filming for reality tv, features, and doing his own work through his own company Lucky Finn Productions. Take chances, makes mistakes, live stronger day by day is his motto.
		The Sony Prize Winner Ken Guanga Inkies Tattoo Studio, Fremont, CA. Before Ken Guanga ventured into his company called Bay Tiger Video Productions, he worked as a Producer, Editor and Videographer for a TV Station making commercials and 13 Years as a Print Graphic Designer in the Bay Area. He freelances for AOL and Electronic Arts among other clients. Ken shoots with Canon DSLR's and a Sony NEX-FS100 and edits on Final Cut Pro X.

The Judges

KES AKALAONU is a freelance video editor and motion graphics artist. He also teaches Television Production at the Illinois Center for Broadcasting.

NLE Ninja

ANDY BURTON COON is an award winning documentary filmmaker that currently resides in Greensboro, North Carolina. He is currently a freelance Independent contractor in multiple areas of filmmaking. His work ranges from documentaries, corporate commercials, feature films, music videos and on-line marketing.

Final Cut Producer

NICLAS BAHN is the owner and business developer of Noise Industries, LLC, the developer of FxFactory, a revolutionary visual effects architecture powering hundreds of plug-ins for Final Cut Pro, Motion, Final Cut Express and Adobe After Effects.

The LVFX 2012 Video Competition begins on Tuesday, October 2nd 2012 and ends on Monday 25, Febraury 2013. Contest winners will be announced on February 26, 2013.

You may submit one or more video content as a link via YouTube.com or Vimeo.com ("User Videos") and one or more textual content ("User Name, Title of Work and effects used"). User Videos, User Name and Title of Work and effects used are collectively referred to as "Contest Entries." You understand that whether or not such Contest Entries are published, Luca Visual FX, Ltd does not guarantee any confidentiality with respect to any Contest Entries. Contest Entries must be submitted electronically to competition@lucavisualfx.com.

Submissions are open from Tuesday, October 2, 2012 and closes on Monday, December 17 2012. Any submissions after this date will not be considered. Contest entries will be posted on www.lucavisualfx.com/competition.htm by Wednesday, December 19 2012

"Likes" will be counted between Monday, December 17 2012 to Sunday, February 3 2013. Any Likes after this date will not be counted. Only "Likes" that appear on this page, www.lucavisualfx.com/competition.htm, are counted in the competition.

The first 16 entries with the most votes will qualify to be entered in to the next stage where a panel of judges will select the final 5 winners. Click here to see the 5 prizes available.

Contest Entries will be voted by the public via Facebook "Likes". Contest Entries must be received on or before the competition submission ending time and date. Contest Entries received after this deadline, for whatever reason, will not be included in the competition and therefore will not appear in The Entries.

Contest Entries that qualify to the next stage will be posted on the Finalist's Wall which will be judged by a panel according to their creative use of Luca Visual FX plug-ins and/or alpha transitions and overall impact of the video content.

You shall be solely responsible for your own Contest Entries and the consequences of posting or publishing them. In connection with Contest Entries, you affirm, represent, and/or warrant that: you own or have the necessary licenses, rights, consents, and permissions to use and authorize Luca Visual FX, Ltd to use all patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright or other proprietary rights in and to any and all Contest Entries to enable inclusion and use of the Contest Entries in the manner contemplated by the Website.

For clarity, you retain all of your ownership rights in your Contest Entries. However, by submitting Contest Entries to Luca Visual FX, Ltd, you hereby grant Luca Visual FX, Ltd a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicenseable and transferable license to use, reproduce, distribute, prepare derivative works of, display, and perform the Contest Entries in connection with the Luca Visual FX, Ltd Website and Luca Visual FX, Ltd's (and its successors' and affiliates') business, including without limitation for promoting and redistributing part or all of the Luca Visual FX, Ltd Website (and derivative works thereof) in any media formats and through any media channels. You also hereby grant each user of the Luca Visual FX, Ltd Website a non-exclusive license to access your Contest Entries through the Website.

In connection with Contest Entries, you further agree that you will not submit material that is copyrighted, protected by trade secret or otherwise subject to third party proprietary rights, including privacy and publicity rights, unless you are the owner of such rights or have permission from their rightful owner to post the material and to grant Luca Visual FX, Ltd all of the license rights granted herein.

You further agree that you will not, in connection with Contest Entries, submit material that is contrary to applicable local, national, and international laws and regulations.

Luca Visual FX, Ltd does not endorse any Contest Entries or any opinion, recommendation, or advice expressed therein, and Luca Visual FX, Ltd expressly disclaims any and all liability in connection with Contest Entries. Luca Visual FX, Ltd does not permit copyright infringing activities and infringement of intellectual property rights on its Website, and Luca Visual FX, Ltd will remove all Contest Entries if properly notified that such Contest Entries infringe on another's intellectual property rights. Luca Visual FX, Ltd reserves the right to remove and disqualify Contest Entries without prior notice.
